Our jars are safe and sustainable.
West Side Oat Company uses 100% recyclable PET jars. PET, or Polyethylene terephthalate, is most widely used for food containers and the number one most recycled plastic. In the right environment, PET can biodegrade. At least one species of bacterium in the genus Nocardia can degrade PET and a colony of this bacterium can naturally disintegrate a PET film in about six weeks.
PET is not BPA. These are two completely different compounds from a chemical perspective. BPA, or Bisphenol-A (polycarbonate plastics), is used primarily to line the inside of cans, bottles and other containers.

The entire box that holds our delicious overnight oats is made from recycled materials and in turn is 100% recyclable. Once our box was created, no more trees are harmed through the use of our box now or in the future.

West Side Oat Company uses UPS to ship all of our packages. We’ve chosen UPS for a few different reasons but the most important was their carbon neutral shipping option. UPS offers customers the ability to counter balance the carbon dioxide emissions generated by the transport of their packages through carbon offsetting. This means that for every tonne of CO2 a package produces in transportation, an equivalent amount of CO2 is saved by a verified emission reduction project somewhere else in the world. By participating in the UPS carbon neutral program, customers will be supporting emissions reduction projects that help mitigate the climate impact of shipping their parcels.
